The client asked us to assist him in planning his operations in order to access the tariff preferences granted by a multilateral trade agreement (the CPTPP). Access to the benefits of the agreement would allow him to reduce the taxes paid on imports and, therefore, the cost of his imports.
As requested, we identified mechanisms that would allow the client to securely access the tariff benefits. We also identified the supporting documentation that the company would require to prove compliance with the requirements of the trade agreement in the event of an inspection and reviewed the drafts of the documents to be issued by the international carriers.
Thus, the client has enjoyed the tariff benefits of the multilateral trade agreement.
