Mar Andino Peru S.A. – The Environmental Assesment

Client Requirement: In recent years, the aquaculture business has represented several tens of USD million in exports for Peru. Mar Andino Peru is one of the most important aquaculture companies in Peru. Our client develops its activities in the Peruvian mountains and exports its products to various international markets. Nonetheless, accomplish all environmental regulatory obligations can be a challenging task due to the diversified places where the company has started operations. To facilitate the most accurate compliance of regulations, we have organized with the Client the strategy of including all their operations in one single Environmental Assessment Document. Our participation: We provided advice to the Client in order to efficiently unify all emplacements in one single Environmental Assessment Document. This suggestion was strategic due to the potentiality of facing different approaches when the Client used to count with separate Environmental Assessment Documents (one for each place). Moreover, when it is considered that the operations to be considered were placed not only within lakes but also in processing plants nearby the corresponding aquatic area. Client benefit: Unifying a series of Environmental Assessment Documents is not a regular procedure and we are in the process to convince the Governmental Agency to accept this suggestion because it is not only convenient from the Client’s perspective but also from the Governmental Agency’s perspective. The correct organization and avoidance of dispersion is certainly on everybody’s benefit.
