Saint Gobain – Mineral Adquisition.

Client requirement: The client is a multinational company that designs, manufactures, distributes construction materials and develops products for the construction industry. The client has requested our services in order to review all the permits and authorizations from a possible contractor that was very important for its operations. Our participation: Our participation included the analysis and review of all the permits and authorizations from the possible contractor to assure that such contractor was complying with the mining regulations. Its important to mention that according to Peruvian mining law that any mining activity performed without the needed permits and authorizations would be considered by the Peruvian Authorities as illegal Mining. Any person that enters into an agreement with a company that does not complies with the mining regulations could be sanction because of contributing with illegal mining. This case was very special because our client’s potential contractor was in the process to formalize its activities before the Peruvian Authorities, such process has been developed by the Peruvian Government in order to promote the regularization of mining activities. In this sense we deeply analysed the contractor formalization process to assure its compliance with the mining laws and regulations. Client benefit: The client was benefited with the knowledge that the contractor was actually in the process of formalizing its mining activities and in this sense, it was possible for our client to reach an agreement with such important contractor without the danger of contributing with illegal mining.
